Privacy policy

The short version

We collect only what we need to run a safe community marketplace: enough to sign you in, show your listings, and let neighbours reach you. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ad networks, and we keep the surface small on purpose.

What we collect

• Your email address: to sign you in. fixy uses a one-time magic link, so we don’t store a password.
• Your seller profile: the display name and zone (e.g. Lekki, Yaba) you choose, and the reputation and vouches you build over time.
• Your listings: the title, description, category, price (or “free”), zone, and any photos you upload to a listing.
• Business verification documents: if you register a business, the documents you submit so a zone admin can verify it. These are stored privately and are not public.
• Reports and vouches: when you report a listing or vouch for a neighbour, we keep that so moderation and reputation work.
• Basic technical data: standard request information (such as your browser type) needed to serve the site and keep it secure.

Why we collect it

Each piece has a job. Your email signs you in. Your profile and listings are the marketplace itself. Verification documents let admins confirm a business is real. Reports and vouches power the trust signals (reputation scores, neighbour vouches, business verification, and zone moderation) that make fixy safer than an open classifieds board.

Contacting a seller

When you tap WhatsApp or Call on a listing, you leave fixy and open WhatsApp or your phone dialler. From that point the conversation is between you and the other person, on their platform. fixy isn’t in the middle and doesn’t see those messages. Share only what you’re comfortable sharing, and meet safely (see Community safety).

Payments

fixy does not process payments or hold money. Deals are arranged directly between members, typically pay on delivery, or whatever you agree. We’ll update this page before any payment processing goes live.

Who can see your information

• Public: your display name, zone, reputation, and your live listings (including their photos) are visible to anyone, because that’s how a marketplace works.
• Admins: zone admins can see reports, your verification documents, and listing details needed to moderate fairly.
• Service providers: we use Supabase to host the database, authentication, and file storage. They process data on our behalf under their terms; we don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.
• The law: we may disclose information if we’re legally required to, or to protect members from harm.

Your choices

• Edit or delete your listings at any time from your account.
• Update your display name and zone whenever you like.
• Ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it (see the contact below).

Some records may be kept longer where we’re required to, or to resolve a dispute or enforce our Terms of use.

Age

fixy is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or post a listing.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above. For a material change, we’ll do our best to give you clear notice.
